In other news, Troy's girlfriend passed away yesterday in a very tragic accident. She was only 30 years old. The family has set up a site that is accepting donations to help with the funeral.

ReplyDeleteWas it a horrible thing to impulsively stomp a homeless guy's cake? Absolutely! Did I laugh at it? Absolutely, because I'm a piece of shit, I just don't deny it. Do I feel bad about it, absolutely! But that guy probably received enough money from that incident to go buy many things he needed.
Also, I don't understand some of those people's reasoning. Saying 100 dollars doesn't make up for stomping one cake is like Homer Simpson logic.

Reddit is mostly soft young to middle aged guys and gals that post funny stuff from other sites to feel like they brought something new to the table. I've been trolling 4chan for years and years now, since before 4chan was overrun by high school kids trying to be funny, and Reddit is basically the same type crowd now. Reddit grabs the funny stuff from 4chan and tries to rehash it over and over. Reddit has really gone downhill and it's now basically the site you go to for the latest human-interest story where the internet tries to act chivalrous but in reality it's just self-serving bullshit to make a fat teen feel better until the next time they stick their hand into a bag of Cheetos. Not a single person that regularly posts and comments on Reddit would get off their ass and help a homeless guy, let alone stand up and jump on something. It's a site where people try to one-up each other by acting like they care more.. it's really fake and stupid.

Deletei tried looking at reddit, it just doesn't compare to 4chan. nothing really does. anywhere on the internet where everyone isn't anonymous just lacks something... but god it was so much better before it was hijacked by newfags trying to become "activists" and started targeting causes like scientology. there was such a schism the night that went down.

He really takes some shots at the Opester. I'm not sure how large the appearance fee was, but I would expect to be paid if I did something like that outside of work hours (at least comparable to what is paid for doing a show).

There isn't anything that is really news there, they "jokingly" admit most of it. They've expended a lot of effort questioning Stern's schedule and even attacked Steve (and others) for his attempt at using up vacation days he was owed to go to a 4 day week. I mean, these guys work 4 hour days and take around 4+ weeks of scheduled vacation a year combined with a lot of sick days (especially since they now keep the show going when only one of them is there). How many times have we heard the "we are the only ones working today" line when it is 3 days out from a holiday and they pushed for an entire week off and got rejected?

Delete...and if you think Troy got a talking to, imagine the talking to Mark Zito got. (something along the lines of) "You are going to jeopardize a promising career in management by getting involved in things like this." He seems to have smartly recognized his lack of talent (or at least listened to what everyone said about him) and is on the management track to sucking off the corporate teat of a dying business. There is a lot less milk than the guys on big shows get, but it is a much more certain career path.

Well, I just mentioned the loan thing to cover up my previous insensitive joke on the matter... As said, it was probably just set up for family, and I have no idea whether they actually knew about or reached out to the O&A crowd, although they did raise quite a bit so I just assumed that is what happened.
DeletePersonally, I have a lot of problems with it. For one, why does a funeral cost $20K? That whole industry is a scam. It shouldn't put a family in debt to bury someone in a hole, or even more practical, have the body cremated.
As for donating, I follow my gut and a few simple rules. Was it an unexpected thing (wasn't drug overdose)? Was it something that couldn't have been prevented (like a school shooting)? And was the victim white (preferably cute)?
